BEBE shows highlights from the Fall 2007 collection at Mercedes-Benz LA Fashion Week. The inspiration being war and also the idea of peace according to designer David Cardona – toy soldiers, uniforms evident by the uniformity of the platinum wigs worn by the models that march/strut the runway. There is a ‘peace sign’ motif running throughout the collection as even the lines of the peace sign are utilized in the design of the clothes. The colors could represent different things in the war/peace theme. Cayenne for the red heat of war, military beige-green of the coat above, white for surrender or the frigidity of cold war and black for the grimmness of the reality of war. Overlaying all these representative colors are lines – lines of the peace sign that hold and construct the garment. ”It’s war and peace in more of a literal sense, rather than the Tolstoy novel,” designer David Cardona said before the show. ”It’s not period. It’s a little toy soldier meets a sexy little girl and becomes a peaceful angel.” quote source
