When Spring is in the air or the sweet aromas of Summer fill the room there’s nothing like a pretty dress to make you feel in step with the season. Exemplified by this is Meghan Markle’s lemon dress by Oscar de la Renta. Depending on when you read this article, warm weather may be months away or you may be in the midst of blooming season. Some fashion styles stand the test of time and like an ideal Spring, are eternal. So I decided to revisit one of Meghan Markle’s best looks, the Oscar de la Renta Citrus Primavera Peplum Hem Dress and find the same look for less for the frugal fashionista.
Let’s start by taking a look at the fabulous frock worn by the Duchess of Sussex. The dress Meghan is wearing features a lemon and leaf design on a dusky aqua blue silk blend fabric.
She wore the sunny dress at Spotify’s Stream On event, in February 2021. The 60’s-inspired dress has a low waist and flounce hem. Part of the dresses product name “primavera” means Spring in Italian. Meghan wore the dress shortly after announcing her second pregnancy. Apropos since Spring is the time when new growth occurs in the Northern Hemisphere.

Jill Biden also was a fan of Oscar de la Renta’s Citrus Primavera collection as she chose a belted midi dress version with the lemon print motif. She wore this dress at the State Department’s International Women of Courage Award ceremony in March of 2021. This is a great sleeved alternative to Meghan Markle’s lemon dress look.
